How to Clean and Sanitize the Tank Connector

Notes
Cleaning and Sanitizing Materials Required
  1. (1) Bucket
  2. (1) Tank Connector
  3. Peracetic Acid
  4. Cleaner compatible with Stainless Steel - for example PBW, Cell-r-Mastr, or Caustic
  5. (1) Valve Release Set for Version 4 Tank Connectors (contains the lever to attach the Hub to the TC) on v2.0 Fermentation Hubs ONLY

How to Clean and Sanitize the Tank Connector and Filter

  1. Disassemble the Tank Connector, including the in-tank filter
  2. Rinse pieces with water to remove gross particles such as hops
  3. In your bucket, mix up a cleaning solution using your preferred cleaner, according to said cleaner's instructions (unlike the Fermentation Hub itself, the Tank Connector and filter are composed of all stainless steel, and can hold up to any cleaning chemical meant for use with stainless steel)
  4. For v4 Tank Connectors (contains the lever to attach the Hub to the TC) and Version 2.0 Hubs ONLY - Attach Valve Release Set to Tank Connector to open the valves.  Make sure you press until you hear a click, the fluid path will only open if the Valve Release Set is fully attached to the Tank Connector.
  5. Submerge in your cleaning solution, and soak for the cleaner's recommended duration. (Optional: if you prefer, use pipe brushes to clean) Make sure the valves are open.
  6. Remove both pieces from the cleaning solution, and rinse thoroughly with water. Ensure that the inside of the tubes are rinsed, as well
  7. In your bucket, mix up a 200 ppm peracetic acid solution (if you're using a sanitizer other than PAA, please dilute using the sanitizer's instructions)
  8. Submerge in your sanitizing solution. Allow to soak for the sanitizer's recommended duration, and until you're ready to install it onto your tank
